This plus Bama plus Bama having our old coach plus the BCS being invented in the first place.

Before the BCS, you had controversies over the "national champion" but since it was more mythical than fact the decades before, "winning it all" wasn't as big a deal as it is today (not to say it wasn't a big deal at all).

The BCS created a real tangible national title every year. This led to those soaring coaching salaries and tickets. It also lowered the value of winning traditional rivalries or your conference title.

We could win a few SEC titles the next 7 years and our fans (and other schools as well) would be furious that an NC didn't come with it.

Heightened expectations caused by a mechanism to crown a national champion, devaluing every bowl game but one, every achievement but one, with our old coach at a familiar school achieving that goal over and over is a lot to happen in less than a decade.
