Less than a week away. Most races seem pretty wide open.

They just had a horrible breakdown, though. Points Offthebench just went down in his work for the sprint. Didn't even try to get back up. Put down on the track. He was a nice horse.

I wonder if they are screwing with the track as much as they did last year to speed it up? Even the horses that based at Santa Anita hated what they did to it.

Anyway, whatcha got?

Damn, I hate to hear that. The depressing thing about horse racing.

I'm going to pick my spots this year since the races are so late due to being on the west coast.

In the Distaff, I can't pass up a Sylmar/Royal Delta exacta, at 9-5 and 8-5 ML.

In the Filly and Mare Turf, I'm ALL OVER Emolient with big race Mike at 12-1 ML. Saw her last race at Keeneland, she broke last but came roaring back to win. Very impressive.

In the Turf Sprint, I like Mizdirection at 4-1 ML. Jim Rome's horse on his home track should be tough.

Gotta take Trinniburg in the Sprint at 8-1 ML. Rajiv will get him out of the gate fast. Wire to wire.

In the Classic, I like Moreno to break quickly and try to wire it, but I think Will Take Charge will catch him at the wire. D. Wayne is having a real comeback year. WTC is a different animal than he was in the Triple Crown series.

I think Wise Dan will return to form in the Mile and prevail. I was at Keeneland when he got beat in the Shadwell, but I think that was a fluke. There was a huge storm right before the race. They took it off the turf. You could see standing water on the poly. Don't believe Dan liked that track.

For what its worth, these are the spots I'm picking:

Dirt Mile: Exacta box, Verrazano and Holy Lute

JFT: Exacta Box Clenor and Kittenkaboodles

Distaff: Tri box, Beholder, Princess, and Royal Delta. Obvious, but may pay better than you think.

FMT: Nice win bet on Emollient. Really like this horse.

Classic: Exacta Box, Will Take Charge and Moreno.

That's all for this year. Will go to Keeneland this afternoon to make bets, then come home to watch. Will be going to UK football Saturday night, so I won't know the Classic results till late. Terrible cell reception at Commonwealth.

Good luck all
