He's very fortunate that he is able to do what he can right now, but he will put more stress on other parts of his knee and damage it further. It's the right decision for a guy so young to get it done soon. Especially such a stubborn guy.....haha. The kid has some heart. It sounds like his rehab may be swift.

It actually depends on the individual- further damage is not a foregone conclusion. Some people can play without an ACL, or with a partial tear. If his menisci are intact, particularly the medial meniscus, he may have plenty of functional stability. That said, you have to have a good understanding of the player's exam to go the route of no surgery.

No doubt the heart is there, which is always a plus in terms of rehab.
