Its pretty solid. I like Suburbs better, but Ive only listened to the new one once.

really thought suburbs was a sterile record. this is much more true to their roots i think.

It grew on me a lot. Some really good songs on it.
I think this one isn't true to their roots at all. Sounds more like LCD Soundsytem with AF singing.
The James Murphy influence and direction is pretty clear.

couldn't disagree more. there's really only one song where james' touch is really apparent. just spoke with the engineer on the record last thursday.
the talking heads in them is back in full force. especially on songs like "joan of arc". the dance rhythms present from having the carribean on the percussion brought them right back to the expansive epic world influenced music.
suburbs had none of the vibe. boring and sterile.

sure. but the guitar tones are much more violent in this stuff. sure there's some LCD beats going on here. But suburbs was such a passive record.
