Even when you ask all the old players who are bitching the most about "not knowing," when they're asked whether they would still play knowing what they know now, they pretty much all say, "Yeah, I'd still play."
Having said that, they KNEW. They knew damn well that they would have serious medical issues when they got older. They could see the older players and boxers -- they even had a term for it -- "punch drunk."
And, if there's ANY doubt, how many players today have quit because of what we now know?
Sure, you have the Troy Aikman's of the football world who retire a few years early. But, he was still playing after 6 or 7 major concussions. For many of these guys, football is all they know.
