I don't honestly post that much. And I am not very old (26), but can none of you realize a trend in LSU history?
Help Mac Pack...fire Miles...where is the difference? And how did that end up for us? How did the firing of Phil Fulmer at Tennessee or Tommy Tubberville at Auburn treat those programs? I don't think, from what I read on here, most of you would be around if we had to go through some of the seasons those universities have had to go through.
In my opinion we are in a very similar situation. Charlie Mac was fired bc he couldn't beat Bear Bryant and also struggled against Ole Miss. After Mac left we won exactly 2 conference championships in 20 years and had an overall record of 125-99.
In any case, Les Miles has the ability to have more success at LSU than even Cholly Mac had. He has already won as many SEC championships and has a National title in two appearances to boot.
Maybe I have a different point of view because I became a fan of LSU football when we were terrible, suffering through the Curly Hulman years. I can remember when we lost to Florida 58-3 at home in 1993. Bowl games through my first few years of fandom were a thing of legend.
This is the best period in LSU football history. I will not argue that Nick Saban is not a better coach, but I am enjoying these years. Sure it is frustrating that we have lost some games we had no business losing. But I think if you look back, you could say that at any point in LSU's football history. We are in the title hunt, if not every year, but most years. And can we agree that that is awesome?
Enjoy this time. It doesn't come around very often.
