No. Im a diehard spurs fan

His team in Denver was built perfectly for him. 7 guys who played D, rebounded, and did the dirty work so melo could just score.

I agree that the Nuggets best year was 2008-09 when they reached the WCF. That team was built for him and they went deep.
Losing to the Lakers of that day is not much of a failure IMO. Lets not forget who the coach was either, not hating on Karl to hard, but he has never got the job done either

The depth chart if I'm remembering/referencing correctly was

Billups
JR Smith
Melo
Martin
Nene
with Kleiza,, Anthony Carter D. Jones and Birdman coming off the bench

Jones Billups and Smith were lights out from 3 that year they spaced the floor for Melo.

Melo hasn't had a cast that complimentary since then.

You talk about adding this, adding that.

yeah the NBA is about building around a superstar(s)

quote:

If you want a stud defender in the paint who can also score, he'd be a better player than melo. And there just aren't that many gifted 7 footers on this planet who can play D and O at a high level.

How many Big men in the game can do that? you are describing a near, if not, HOFer. Of course I'm taking Tim Duncan, KG over Melo in their prime. Who do you want Chris Bosh? Dwight Howard? Gasol?

quote:

Not to mention, melo is a ball stopper.

Jordan/Kobe = 11 rings. It has been done

quote:

Carmelo is a flawed player. Building your team around a flawed player in a salary cap league is a losing proposition.

What is your definition of flawed player? Dwayne needed shaq to get it done. Kobe needed O'neal/Gasol. Jordan had great teams. hell pierce got shite for the same stuff Melo does and add KG + Ray and he is beloved

quote:

here's a reason he's been outta the first rd only twice in his career.

Partly his fault, but the culture of basketball in the Denver organization is obviously not conducive to deep playoff runs

quote:

He thinks playoff basketball is about scoring. It's all about defense. I highly doubt he ever gets a ring.

He might not get one. I just think he is capable
