I purchased a regular '99 base set Charizard.. but isn't 1st edition.

Mine isn't 1st edition, but it has a pretty nifty story behind it. My brother and I went into Books-A-Million for our typical Saturday battling/trading event and we each got 2 packs of cards.

He opened his pack up and got a Blastoise. I opened mine up and got a Charizard. We were both pretty stoked and it was fitting as our respective games were Blue and Red.

I'll say you successfully broke the ice.

Pokemon transcends every group. It is one of the few unique games that can appeal to every group from the casual, to the hardcore, to the collector, to the guy that has to stat max everything.

Not everyone will like it, but it has something to offer to nearly everyone.

Was talking about the Books A Million days earlier in the thread.

Stuff was awesome if your mom or friend's mom was into reading. You could spend an easy 3-4hrs there.
