Because not only do they think its cool to be different for going somewhere else, they think its cool to hate LSU and to root against them. I see it most with people from BR that goto Ole miss/Bama.

I actually agree with this, when folks take to the extreme of actually hating who you grew up rooting for.
I still think your undergrad school should trump all.
It's not an inconsistent point.
