Re-watching the game I came away with almost EXACTLY the same impressions you did. We have improved defensively from the previous 3 games. The D-line is playing the run better than they have. That was the main thing I was looking for... were they holding their water better than they have been and they were. Freak was playing within himself better and not getting blown off the LOS like he has been. Our ends played solid against the run.

Linebackers just are what they are. The most important unit in Chavis' scheme is the weakest on this particular defense. That's both scheme and talent. I don't know what his answer should be to address that but it's got to be addressed. Kwon should be on the field from this point forward.

And you're right. At some point in the second half our defense settled in. When Georgia executed, it wasn't so much us but them. We did stall them at times.

I am not as worried about the secondary because I think we have talent back there that will improve every single game.

My biggest concern is how creative Chavis will get to mask our weaknesses at LB. He is going to have to do some things there. We need a safety in the box on just about every 1st and 2nd down. Loston's doing us little good defending the deep ball so he might as well play to his strengths in the running and short passing game.

Chavis should simplify the playbook for this team. The only logical reason why Welter, Loston, and Martin are still playing is the younger more athletic players don't know the calls. He should make the defense master a small number of plays so he can put the best people out there.

another takeaway from the game Jordan Allen can't play the run at all. He was getting ushered up the field like Rahim Alem or blocked down on all game.
