I really enjoyed this part
If my math is correct, that's only 7 scoring drives for the other team. Out of 33 opportunities, the opponent has scored SEVEN times in three games.

Through three games New Orleans opponents have had 33 possessions and scored four offensive touchdowns. Of the other 29 possessions, 20 ended in punts and six in turnovers

Didn't we give the opponent the ball once or twice starting in our red zone, too?

That last line in the article kinda irked me..

Times are changin in New Orleans

No, Peter, we've actually been a 12-13 win team the last few years. When you have a corrupt commissioner that punishes your team for virtually no hard evidence and takes your coach away, you're going to struggle a little bit that year. But we're back now.
But if he actually paid attention to football he would have known this.

But those teams are going to have to worry about the New Orleans defense now, and not just Drew Brees. Times are changing in New Orleans.
Looks to me like you took the part of the quote just to make an argument. It's quite obvious he was referring specifically to the defense being better. I mean, like, insanely obvious that was his point.

I hate PK much as the next person, but there's no reason to be pissed at anything he wrote in this piece.

The way the defense is playing is freaking shocking. No way did I ever think you could get this level of play and consistency out of the level of talent we have.
It is like going to McDonalds and ordering a Big Mac, which will fill you up but you will pay for it, and they give you a piping hot Ruth Cris Filet etc. Where did they get the beef, the talent to cook it etc? he is making steak out of hamburger somehow.

We had talent it was just about putting it together.

Some people are never happy...
But the person you responded to is 100% correct. It was Payton who recognized that the players on defense, especially our best defender Jordan, were more suited to play in a 3-4. They were looking for any 3-4 defensive guy, Ryan was just lucky enough to land the job.
I said before the hire that it didn't matter who got the job, the most important thing was switching to a 3-4. The switch was the biggest key, not the coach. Just moving to a 3-4 was going to be a huge upgrade because of the personnel we had. I like Ryan because his personality fits the team and the city, but I'm actually kind of annoyed that Ryan is getting more praise than the players.
Something else needs to be pointed out. They are actually playing a lot of 4-3 the first 3 games. The biggest difference is that they got guys like Harper, Smith, Vilma, and Shanle off the field, and guys like Hicks and Junior are getting more snaps now. This makes me think that Spags got too much crap for last year. I don't think it was his decision to keep those guys on the field. We had no head coach with confidence to sit those vets.
