I agree. Just because Robin equated the two doesn't mean Ted does. I think making the big deal about Barney and his lies was just a set up for his singular vow, not that the entire series has been a sham and they are going to pull a surprise twist ending for Robin being the mother. They've also gone out of their way to show how Ted and the Mother fit so well together. She's definitely a better fit for Ted than Robin.
