I think it was something like she was made director of Tiger Band, but wanted more, didn't get it, and then bolted.

Linda Moorehouse was offered to be the head of the Tiger Band, but still be the #2 on the concert side. She wanted Wickes's job (#1 on both fronts), but LSU wouldn't give it to her, so she went to Illinois which offered her the job she wanted.
I feel like she probably should have been given that promotion, but I admit that Tiger Band was much more fun under Roy than under Moorehouse.
