Agree with much of your analysis. Unfortunately, the performance against Kent State will tell us little of value. Conversely, the Auburn offense will be a meaningful test of the defense's ability to defend the corner.

Lost in all of this thoughtful assessment of our containment problems is that fact that we have also been gashed up the middle from time to time. Of course, that might also be attributable to lackluster LB and safety play.

Chicken or the egg, I guess. I doubt anyone is going to line up in short yardage, and repeatedly gash us. The containment issues probably have created the middle concern.

Playing with the lead, we probably invite a double on one downtech with an inside handoff. With the MLB playing on his heels due to containment issues, it's easier to penetrate. We miss Minter, big time right now.

There's just not a lot of scraping going on. At some point, Chief is going to have to trust the calls to somebody else. But, for now, it's apparent that ain't happening.
