They still are as fast as ever. From what I've seen they've just been tackling badly and taking poor angles. Physically this D can still stand up to anyone.

Its not that most consider it bad, its just that we are not use to seeing our DE give up the edges, poor angles, and poor tackling.
All of which are fixable with experience, scheme, and coaching.
