Ive read online that there is a lot of osage or bowdoc wood in east Tejas and sw Arkansaw.

Was hoping some of my fellow OBers might have some in their home range and would be willing to cut and ship me 4-5 3-4" limbs aprox 5'-6' in length.

I will pay all cost plus will make a bow and ship back to you if interested.

My plan is to make my own bow and arrows with flint arrowheads and use it to hunt next year.

If you ever kill something besides your wife with that, I will drive to Jacksonville and shake your hand

you could probably find some closer to you. they'll grow damn near anywhere.

you can also plant cuttings and they will grow. people used to make fence posts out of them and much to their surprise, trees shot up

hard to find good pieces of bois d'arc for making a bow. finding some that are straight and long enough seems to be an issue

good luck

You may have more luck buying a bolt of Bodarc from an online archery supply store. Not all pieces are created equal and it may take somebody who knows what they're looking for to select the right piece(s). I had an older friend that was part Indian that used to make bows and other primitive weapons and he was very selective when it came to choosing the right piece of wood. He said he had to "see" the bow in the tree before cutting the limb.

You can buy a stave on Ebay for about $50.00.
Probably a better piece of wood.
