Good point, I'm looking forward to us finally using a legit pass catching TE in our scheme.
Smith obviously fits that. Travis Dickson reminds me of a sort of Hybrid TE [Similar to how Alabama used Peek & Smelley in years past].
Gordon & Stokes are your run blocks for the most part.

Yeah, I'm excited about him too. He is our first legitimate TE threat since Dick Dickson. With Cam having a knack for utilizing TEs in the pass game, I'm looking for big things in his time here. He's still a true freshman though.

He hasn't made it to campus yet and is likely heading towards a redshirt, but yes he will be a monster in coming years.

Dude RR still isnt here. Hes supposed to be here this week, which is great news.
But hes WAY behind. A full summer and beginning of camp and practices behind. His potential is sky high, but he hasnt even had a practice or a workout here yet. Id think about RS him, just because hes so behind and wont be ready to play by about week 8.
Im pumped about RR and believe hes gonna be a great 1. But considering how far behind he is, im not sure how he will see that much, if any, PT this year.

If the kid comes in and is better than others, he will play. Not week one of course, but that wasnt what i was going for. With the DB talent here and coming in years, these kids will be heading out early every year. It is DBU. Its the one position where i want these guys to only be here for three years. So a redshirt doesnt look likely to me.

If Jennings enters the game it would be either really bad or a dominating performance.

Our two starting CBs are sophomores. Our 2 backup CBs are freshmen. Do you even know what you're talking about?

Yea... but hes not. Is the potential there? Certainly. But you gotta realize how far ahead every other CB on the team is compared to RR. Especially in the playbook. He hasnt practiced against college players yet. Right now, hes behind Collins, Mills, Thomas, Raymond, White, and Brazil for sure at the moment.
If RR would of gotten here on time, theres no way he gets RS and def could be pushing for some PT. But he didnt. And hes still not here. He might not get here til late this week or even next week. Game 1 is this Saturday. Itll be week 8 before hes ready to even play. No point in wasting an entire year of eligibilty just so he can play ST for a few weeks. And, we dont even know how good he really is. Sure, we hear great things about him and all. But he hasnt even practiced against college players yet. We dont even know if he would of pushed for PT as a freshman if he got here on time. And hes about 4 months behind everyon else.
And just because he could be RS doesnt mean he cant leave early. He can leave in 3 years, no matter what. Could be a RS soph or a true junior. He can still go.
From a coaches point of view, the smart thing to do with RR would be to RS him. We have enough talent at CB to have him RS.

I'd rather see Jennings take over the whole fourth quarter against UAB and Kent State.
I can't believe nobody said Dural who is only a redshirt freshman and has not seen the field.

Where are you going with this? Did you even read the post?

I agree with your opinion, but what im saying is, if in fact come "week 8", hes ready, and proves to be as good as i believe he is coming out of high school, and surpasses others, why wouldnt you put him in somewhere?

Not necessarily. With guys like him(who has practiced with NFL players), They'll find a way onto the field through S/T. Also he could stretch his legs against Furman with Tre-White for the whole second half.

Some of these kids come in and it just clicks. I played quarterback and outside linebacker in high school, had a kid come in and he was a basketball star. He hadnt played football ever in his life. This kid came in when i was a three year starter in 4a and he was only a sophomore. This kid almost took my spot by week 2 and i wasnt exactly bad..

I'm looking forward to seeing all of them. After unexpected early performances of Laron Landry and T. Mathieu, to name a few, I learned not to label anyone as a favorite until I see them play.

So, what he did against NFL WRs in shorts and t shirt at Patrick Petersons camp for kids means he ready to play?? You really think those NFL WRs were going balls to the wall??
And thats what im trying to say. There is no reason to waste a year of eligibility on RR, considering his situation. Hes not even on campus yet and we play this saturday. So he wont be ready to play by around week 8. So you waste an entire year of eligibility for RR just to let him play a few weeks on Special Teams, which would be sparingly, and to strech his legs against Furman?? Not the smart thing to do.
And again, we already have enough talent at CB this year. Its not like RR was going to come in and be our full time starter at CB. We dont even know what type of player he is. We think he could potentially be a great 1. But, he hasnt even had a college practice. Hasnt had to tackle an SEC RB or shed a block against an SEC OL. And considering hes about 170lbs, he could use this year to bulk up, get the playbook down, and get acclimated to playing against SEC type players in practice.

How is any poster or scout to say that tre white is coming in and going to compete week one then dude? You already said even if he redshirts he can leave after only two years of actually having pt. If by week 8 hes here and becomes better than the other guys, why the hell would yoy keep him off the field. These guys see DBU as 3 and done, RS or not.
If he is good enough WHENEVER it is, even the last game of the season, you will see the field.

Anthony Jennings and Diarse mainly. Also Dural..
Most importantly I'm excited to see young guys on the defensive line and I'd really like to ice this game at half time and let Jennings and the backups get some good reps.
