I agree, but I have a friend in his early 30s like this and it's pretty much just impossible to expand his eating habits. Hates vegetables, most fruits, orders his burger w/ "meat and cheese only." Still a good friend, I don't judge him .. but I've also given up trying to change him.

It's not a matter of growing up. There just isn't much available here. And like I said, she's younger.
I know she went to Chicago recently and tried some real Chinese food so it's not like she's close minded or anything.
