So one could make the argument that people in Atlanta are more wealthy and because there's a larger population in ATL than New Orleans that the factors in putting this "stat" together are completely baseless.

I don't know, Uptown New Orleans and metro N.O. (Jefferson, St. Charles, St Tammany, etc.) are pretty damn well-to-do.
Also, the Saints have had an 80k + waiting list for season tickets since 2006.
We are in a smaller 'TV' market than Atlanta, but the Saints have fans spread from East Texas to Florida and from the Gulf to Tennessee; and have season ticket holders who come from all over La, Miss, and even Ala.
