I use "gambling" money if you will and mess with biotechs. I mentioned AMRN as a buy back when it was $11, never owned it however, and watched it fall further and further until I could not resist. I was averaged in at 5.65 and sold most, but not all, of my position today. I like to take profits when I can in biotechs and let the rest ride.
Vascepa is slowly gaining market share against Lovaza. Vascepa is a superior drug and could become a couple billion dollar drug. They have several key dates coming up for its MARINE and ANCHOR traisl, one with ADCOM in October, one with PDUFA in December. They also could gain NCE any month now from the FDA.
I could still see a buyout in the future, but if not, go it alone may not be that bad either. Like you said, may take a year or two to really start turning profits.

On the flipside, there is always a chance of dilution, as what happened a few months back.
