Table through 34 weeks:
Mick 67
VKC 66
GC 58
BPG 57
Wait 57
GMo54
rdw 51
Jumbo 45
WSE 33 (dead team)
Bob 21 (dead team)
In week 35, so far Mick, Wait, and GC have wins. WSE, Bob, and VKC have losses. Mick has a four point lead going into the last week. You are five points behind me, but you have a one-point lead on Wait and either 1, 3, or 4 ahead of BPG. You are guaranteed top 5.
The full table is on google docs. It is is worth checking out the "League Site" tab on the OP.
Thanks. I do check it out from time-to-time. I just can't access it at work and wanted to see it NOW!!!!
Guaranteed top 5, huh? European football next year for me, lads!

Yea, Coleman was the top free agent for sure. 7th overall in league for total points. (thru week 35).. Solid.
I was looking at my draft roster vs my current roster and over 1/2 my team were free agent. (mostly via injuries...)

I told you guys I would have taken Suarez second overall. I was shocked when he fell to me.
Also, remember the multipage debate about the Gerrard pick? I said he was the best value pick of the draft and the Liverpool guys shite on me.
I like that three of my guys are on your list. I think I got Osman via free agency though.

Yea I was reading that thread earlier, pretty funny. He was also telling me Sturridge is a first round talent but injury problems will limit him. While he does get hurt, he and gerrard were 4th overall in points in entire league. In hindsight some of the picks were hideous... I picked Walcott over Suarez right before you I think

I was honestly shocked when Mata was chosen over Hazard and Soldado went over Rooney. I do not give a shite how the good player is in real life, but obviously there is some correlation. I target the guys who rack up goals and assists. As far as defenders go, I want guys from projected quality team and Stoke (big 4 + Tots + Everton + Stoke) and guys who go forward.
I think my biggest "secret" is to target penalty takers. That is worth like a minimum of a free 25 points over the course of the year. It is why I was so high on Rooney.
I think the one thing that knowledgeable soccer fans have trouble with is separating the real from the fantasy. For example, the technical picks were lauded (Kagawa, Navas, etc), but they may not always produce since completing 200 passes and recycling possession does jack shite for fantasy. Of course, I made plenty of mistakes as well (most notably Demba Ba in the fifth), but sometimes a little less knowledge of the game almost helps in a simplistic scoring system.

All true. Also, you took a calculated risk on both suarez and rooney and both panned out. Rooney had a lot of uncertainty at beginning of season - might be leaving club etc. Both of those guys not only stayed in EPL but thrived. Looking back on it, its amazing that everyone else myself included were scared to take those guys. Stupid.
Posted on 4/24/14 at 4:42 pm to The Mick
My logic with Suarez was obvious. There was no risk. 33 games of Suarez >>> 36 games of everyone not named Gareth Bale (writing on the wall to Madrid) and RVP. Suarez scored like at least 50 more points than the rest of the league (excluding RVP and Bale).
I do have to say that I was higher on Suarez and Liverpool than everyone else on here. I picked Suarez to win the Golden Boot seriously and I thought Liverpool would finish top 3. It makes me feel vindicated, but I am glad they did because I love watching them and Gerrard deserves it.
Rooney was safe to me because he was going to stay at Man U or going to Chelsea. I was not going to lose him, and he takes PK's and he is Wayne fricking Rooney.

For me, the suspension wasn't a factor, I really thought he was being sold.
Posted on 4/24/14 at 5:20 pm to The Mick
I was pretty sure Suarez would stay. Maybe I was just uninformed or lucky.

Joel Ward is solid... not sure how by Crystal Palace defenders have been really good especially last 6 weeks or so.
Posted on 4/25/14 at 2:06 pm to The Mick
They are playing City though.
The reason Palace defenders have gotten so good is that Tony Pulis took over in November. Since then, they are tied for second in the league in clean sheets.
