I've been wondering lately about starting a small side project of going to various high school football/basketball events and filming potential prospects to make highlight videos for them. Essentially creating a higher quality recruiting video, since I can't stand watching the ones I usually see. I love watching them, but the quality is generally so bad that it makes my eyes bleed. GeauxAggie's thread LINK was sort of the brainchild for this.

Nothing too serious, just a little side money. I already have all the equipment, so I figured this could be something to use it for.I don't really care so much about what I'd get paid to do it, if I could, I just don't want to frick up some kids future by making a boneheaded mistake that could cost him a scholarship/playing time/suspension/etc.

Whats the legality of going to high schools around the state and filming sporting events?

Could a parent pay me to film and create a highlight video?

Could I advertise at schools saying I could make video's for them to send off?

Other pitfalls people see?

This is definitely something you can do. Speak to an attorney that works hapeavily with a major university.

Its worth a shot. If you are just trying to help a kid with football recruiting then I would think u may have to do alot of charity work. But, if u are looking to expand your hobby to include all sports, Im sure some of the parents would meet u half way for your time, editing and equipment and pay u handsomely.
Many will pay u even if their kids arent going to play college ball.
I dislike recording my kid's games. Its alot of work and if I could pay someone else for better quality and just relax and enjoy the game, Id be interested for sure.
Good Luck either way
