Yeah, something tells me that Korra's father wasn't responsible for the spirit attack at all and his brother merely used his brother's raid to his advantage and summoned some spirits. I'm thinking he did something similar what Ozai did with Iroh and then asked his father to revoke his brother's birthright. Unlike Ozai's father, he agreed to it, so he overthrew his brother in the process.

Yeah, thinking the same. Be interesting to see how things go down, can;t see Korra really sitting around watching the southern tribe getting basically taken over.

I feel sure that he will succeed in it, and Korra and company will flee once they realize what her uncle plans to do. Think she'll rejoin Tenzin and hopefully profusely apologize to Tenzin, who Korra was being an absolute bitch to in the last episode to where I felt really bad for him. After her parents, it's clear that he's the person who most cares for her and has her best interests at heart.

I think his goal in the South is merely to secure more numbers to his army as he invades the United Republic and the Earth Kingdom. Think he'll have all the forces of the Water Tribes and the spirits he thinks he controls. His goal is to spread his religious ideology over the world at any cost, and the Earth Kingdom and United Republic don't have really any religion to speak of from what has been presented.
