ETA: This one just happened to my brother.
My brother lives in New Orleans, on Louisiana. Not a bad street, but in close proximity to bad areas. One night he was walking home from work and a guy on a bike rode up to him and asked for a cigarette. My brother said okay and started to grab his.
The guy looked at my brother and said, "I know you." He then rode off without the cigarette.
We think he was going to mug my brother or worse, but then realized who he was and decided against it.

Saw that one on reddit a while back and it always stuck with me as being really creepy even if fiction
