Because they wanted a 'neutral' team to win and set the lineup for next time. Both sides of the Cooke/Cara Maria vs. Paula/Emily/Diem split figured that it was better than having one of those other teams win.
In the end, it was dumb, because one of them has to go first.

whoever was swinging third should have figured out what the hell was going on, though 
Who cares if you're breaking an agreement; they're the weakest team there. If the entire strategy was to team up against Paula and Emily, that shows just how scared shitless all of e girls are of Emily.
It's funny though because Camila was awesome at this one.
