Demps is collecting assets/roster pieces. If this is a threat to anyone it's Brian Roberts, not Gordon. Unless Demps had a good trade lined up for Gordon it seems like seeing what happens with this loaded back court is the way to go. The need for a true center may not be as pressing as many of us think.

Miami was exposed for their height issues. Will they be able to address that in any meaningful way besides Oden?

Steve Kyler
Exposed? You mean before or after they won their second championship?

I had a GM tell me this in Orlando yesterday… the NBA has changed, you do not need a center any more.

Miami will have to improve, but in all honesty they have no means to really add anything and they are not looking at trades.

I agree that people are overstating the need for a center. You just don't see that many dominating ones coming out of college. The days when you had guys like Ewing, Shaq, Mourning, Olajuwon, Mutombo, Robinson, etc. all playing at the same time are probably over.

To be fair, It's not like that Miami team can be replicated and modeled after. Miami is such an exception to the rule that it's really unfair to use them as an example.

This is going to be debated for the years to come. When the Lakers won their back to back, people said small ball was dead and now that Miami has won it, people say NBA centers are dead. It's going to go back and forth. At the end of the day, Talent trumps all.
