I've always had a more difficult time judging keepers than pretty much any other position.

For example, I felt like Buffon should have done better on that Cavani goal while most of the board felt it was pretty much unstoppable.

And clearly some keepers (for lesser teams) are under much greater pressure than keepers for the truly elite teams.

If I remember correctly, someone posted something a while back which showed that Lopez' stats for Madrid this year were better than Casillas'. Even with something like save percentage though there are still a lot of variables, i.e. the "quality" of shots saved, etc.

Casillas is a magnificent distributor. Literally one of the best in the world. People forget he's only 32, and only entering what should be his prime. There might be better pure shot stoppers, but Casillas has as close to a complete game than any other GK playing. He can handle, throw, kick, command an area, organize a defense, everything you want in a keeper. And the mental side of his game is superb. He's a once in a lifetime type of GK talent.
