Pretty sure it's a Rapala

Any specifics on it? A number to look for in the store? Is it a 4-6' diver?

Rapala. I think it's an x-rap. Looks like it'll dive pretty deep, that's a big lip on it. Maybe 10 feet.

Appreciate it
Do you use them ever? Found this one at the bottom of the tackle box and decided to try it out. Caught a couple decent bass and a couple of those Mayan Ciphlids that you helped me identify a while back. Gonna have to buy a couple more of these....

Used one on both the Mayans and the peacocks in ft lauderdale. I've also caught a couple bass on them. (Which was probably pure luck bc I'm a horrible bass fisherman). They're solid crank baits though.
Those Mayans are a blast to catch aren't they? They're violent when they hit your bait.

They are fun to catch, and I think I might try my luck at cleaning a couple and cooking them up tomorrow night. I need to do some research and see how the Messicans do it. Any tips?
But I'm really after the Peacock bass. Still haven't seen one yet, but I'm determined. Are they only in shallow water close to the shore? I know they're in the canals all over, but the lake I live on is 170+ feet deep. I'm not sure how to get after them
Eta: that's it, the shad rap. Thanks Zac

I've caught most of mine finding cuts and points to fish, similar to redfishing and bass fishing to an extent. I used a lot of top water and crank baits.
As far as cleaning the mayan's I don't remember them being to difficult, but I've only cleaned a handful or so. They're pretty damn good eating though. I broiled them with lemon pepper, butter, and blackening seasoning.

I'm definitely going to give it a shot here soon....hopefully tomorrow (if the weather will allow me). They're white meat, right? Many bones? Just a standard fillet and into the broiler, huh....I'll let u know how it goes
Were all the crank baits you used to catch the peacocks fairly shallow divers? I'm pretty terrible with most top water baits and there are too many weeds for anything with a treble hook anywhere near shore on my lake. I'll catch one eventually....it'll just take me some time

How can you be terrible with top water?

Broken back shad rap. One of my favorite crankbaits. I've caught many fish on those. I recommend changing out the hooks if its been in the bottom of the tackle box for years
