Nice. Man, you need to get down here again. Final Sunday or UCL Finals.
ETA: Or World Cup. Summer is cheap here.

mayhaps for the Boxing Day match against West Ham? that's the next time I'll be remotely close to N'walins.

Giroud's holp up play and touch are absolutely world class. There is a reason he is starting for France.
He's improved, but he's still the third best French striker. An elite scorer and Arsenal would rape the Prem in its current state.

GREATLY improved, and his touch amazes me. I didn´t think he had that in him.

I hear ya. It´s all about regularity, I think, as obviously, talent wise, we know who should be all world (but isn´t).

They may not need to rape. Just win, baby.
I think the D is still a concern, but that midfield, and the gunpowder up front, take a lot of pressure off of them.
Beware of Citeh.

Not to be "that guy," but LFC's midfield and defense has been a disaster all season. Rodgers is going through his Mancini phase where he is sitting obviously better players in favor of experimentation. It's worrying, but he has been getting results which I suppose is what matters. He better be prepared for when Luis jumps ship in January/next summer because the squad is terribly average outside of him.

There is a reason he played ahead of Benzema and delivered. His form as a single striker is really good.

When? Benzema has been the starting striker since Henry retired. Giroud has seen international action in the past couple seasons, but it is hard to imagine he has supplanted Benzema, who has been a consistent 20 goal/season player over the past 5 years in the best league on the planet.
France has experimented quite a bit with both players in the past 6-8 months. They will probably continue to try and fit them both on the pitch at the same time, but Benzema is still the better player in my opinion by a decent margin.

Giroud is better than Remy at linking play, though Remy is a better goalscorer. I'd start Giroud over Remy in a one striker formation. Giroud is absolutely amazing with his back to goal. His one touch play is sublime. His scoring has improved, but I think he's going to get enough chances to where he can score 20 in the league this season.

Benzema has been pretty underwhelming for France for the majority of his appearances. He's a good player, though he has a pretty shitty attitude typical of the 87 class of French players.

Giroud has definitely supplanted Karim in the French lineup for the time being, though that's a fluid situation, surely. he's started every match the last two international breaks, only the first of those did he and Benz start together. Benz didn't even make it off the bench in the WCQ vs Belgium. it was only in the last break that Benz came off the bench to break his 1200+ minute international scoring drought.
France has settled into a nice little lineup with Giroud up top and Valbuena playing centrally.
clearly it's tough to say he's better when Benz has been performing well for longer, but he's certainly more in form at the moment. and third best is silly.

I don´t think Benzema´s problem is attitude, now. He´s simply prone to brain farts.
He can have Ronaldoesque (the REAL Ronaldo) finishes, and absolutely muck it up, like no one else.
He´s an enigma.

I wouldn't say that this caveat counters the notion that Pool were out worked both on and off the ball in midfield. In the first half Pool had no answer for the high press that we employed, though when they did turn Arsenal, their final pass was extremely poor. Arsenal played around Gerrard and Lucas pretty easily both halves, and Pool really allowed the ball to be moved around at pace. I don't even think Pool's best midfield would have changed things too much.

i feel pretty comfortable with Szcz now. he's improved a lot since his benching. so much so, i think it'd be a bad move to bring in a out of form, out of match sharpness San Iker in January.
people are still sleeping on Per and Kos. they were immense again Saturday. really looking forward to ManU. i want to destroy RvP. hopefully we don't gift him a goal again.

Well that 87 class of French players is full of petulant counts. Nasri, Menez, Ben Arfa, and Benz aren't exactly the best examples of good sportsmanship.
Benz is the best player out of that bag of counts, but something is missing in his mentality. I don't know quite what it is.
