The Lord of the Rings *gasp*

Yeah the books are some of the most influential ever and were pioneering for the genre but they are murder to get through. Do we really need 5 pages of Legolas singing every 3 chapters?

I actually don't like the movies but just read the books and liked them. I think the movies took themselves a little too seriously and there was too much action. The books made for better fantasy IMO.

I agree with this, Tom Bombadil is perhaps my least favorite literary character ever
