We used to take chicken leg quarters and let them sit in the sun in a bucket till it made its own juice and would gag a maggot. Then take poles, make a brace and suspend the chicken above the water from a huge arse hook and close pin the line to the pole. Put about 40 feet of line coiled up on the bank.

That quarter sized kill spot is challenging at night.
Not with a q beam, so I've heard at least.

Trapping alligators isn't even something I like doing anymore because its so bastardized now.

Probably not but you gotta do what you gotta do.
My buddy had an 8 footer in his pond that would start swimming towards his dog, every time he came near the water. We scared him off but if that hadn't worked, we'd have put a .270 between his eyes, cleaned him, buried the carcass, and had fried gator for weeks. Good thing waving our arms and yelling worked.

We use a fishing pole with braided line and a ribbit frog on the end. Alligators seem to love it, an when we reel them close enough a whack with the paddle is all you need to knock them out and clean them

not sure here in ms but someone told me the other day we cant do the hook hanging chicken trick. That basically you just have to find a gator, and kill it with a shotgun only #4s
can anyone from ms tell the truth on this
