So a WIN we're in great shape. A loss we still can back arse-in via playoff?

A popular rule is...tie on the road. win at home. you're in the world cup.

We need points. Regardless. Jamaica beat us the last game with 2 FK goals. First time they've ever beat us. Granted our midfielders were Beckerman, Edu, Jones. But, we played awful. Jamaica is going to come out fighting. They can't afford to drop points. If they do. They are almost done for.

Perhaps more useful at this point are the "win at home, tie on the road" standings, given that the U.S. has only played one home game, while this will be Jamaica's third home game in the Hex. If you win at home and tie on the road, you'll qualify for the World Cup. Here's how each team is faring by that standard:

Costa Rica (-1)
United States (-1)
Panama (-2)
Mexico (-2)
Honduras (-3)
Jamaica (-6)

The U.S. plays 10 matches in the fourth and final round of qualifying. Tonight's match is the 4th match of the 4th round so there will still be six more matches before the qualifying standings are final.
