I don't venture over here often but noticed some kayak threads and thought maybe y'all could help me out. I live in the Atlanta area and plan on buying a kayak to use on the Chattahoochee (class I and II) and nearby lakes for rec use, maybe some fishing, and perhaps a longer day trip. I'm looking for a sit-in and I think 10'-12' would be ideal consider my budget. I'm hoping to spend less than $600.
I've looked at the Perception Prodigy 10, which is on sale 15% off at $425 (before tax) at REI. I also found a used Wilderness Systems Pungo 120 for $650 but I think I can negotiate it down to $550 or less. Any experience with these two kayaks or recommendations on what else I should keep an eye out for?

either of those two will be just fine. i don't have any experience with them but here ya go....wilderness systems and perception are owned by the same company (Confluence Watersports). Retired hull designs from wilderness systems are released under perception and west marine (my yak is a pompano 120 which is the same as the circa 2008 tarpon 120/pescador 12). either yak will be solid but If you can swing the 12' go with it, the extra two feet really does matter.
