1. The name in quotes should have been an indication that a nickname, and not a proper name was being used. It happens all the time.
2. Often times the activities of a former player is reported here, so it isn't all that unusual. It is regrettable that you were unaware of this.

That might have caused some confusion to knowlegable LSU football fans because as you pointed out there is a current player whose name is Blue. By including the term Blue with the name, such confusion was avoided, by everyone except you apparently.

Fans would think of Randall Gay if the term BLUE were included with the name. The current players real first name(which isn't Randall by the way) would have been included if the story had been about him. It's not hard for most of us to understand the difference.

Calling someone by their LAST name is considered a nickname.

Say what you want and type for days, I understand his nickname is Blue, but NOT ONE SINGLE person thinks of Randall Gay when they hear the name Blue in 2013, of course unless former players are the topic.

No biggee, it was sarcasm/joke originally that I take blame for.....but Blue in my mind brings up current guy...
