quote:Probably never happened as simple as that. In the old days, like "now", you could get in a fight but you risked getting hauled off to jail for the night. Do it a few times and you stay a little longer and probably do more community service. The problem is that Hill had something a little more serious than bar brawls on his record.
Indeed they do. And if you are dumb enough to bait someone bigger and stronger than you are, you should be willing to accept those consequences..There was a time before metrosexual America, that if one sounded off in a bar and got his butt smacked, one would accept that as a lesson to either: 1. learn to control one's alcohol intake, 2. learn to be a better fighter, or 3.just STFU.
Now there is all this angst and hand wringing about a lesson that should have been learned long ago.
Where did all the men go?

Back in the "old old" days, things happened like this. You got into a fight. If things were so bad that the cops came, they broke it up. Not especially gently, but they broke it up and everyboy went home. If you were dumb enough to resist the cops or refused to leave, they "convinced" you to get into their car and go with them to jail for the night. Unless weapons of any kind were used, no charges were ever filed.By the next day, it was all over and eveybody went on with their lives.
Bar fights were a normal part of life. And if you ran off at the mouth , you had better be prepared for what was sure to come.
