There was a quote several months back on LandThieves (the Oklahoma fan site), which best summarizes the level of competition in the SEC vs. other conferences (the Big 12):

"Iron sharpens iron. Butter sharpens nothing."

The SEC has become, for all intents and purposes, the NFL Development League. And though someday the title streak will end, the level of competition throughout the SEC shows no signs of slowing down. Since the title streak began, the SEC has had 10, 6, 8, 7, 10, 9, and 12 first round selections in the following NFL Draft.

And the irony of ironies is that the player's college coach (Bret Bielema) is now coaching in the SEC.
