re: Bear with me. Is it possible the FO thinks we have good pass rushers already?

Oh come on red, you really feel that way? I respect your opinion, but honest question, did you watch Texas last year? I am asking to understand if you are looking at snippets from draft people (b/c you will hear only positive things and he does test well) or if you actually saw him yourself?

He was being touted at the beginning of last season (so I made a point to note his play). I saw him play a lot and I just disagree with this pick, this high, especially with the way the game is played and the other needs we have (so, just to clarify, I don't think he "cannot play AT ALL", but that there are a lot of difficulties with taking the pill of this pick) and I don't think he is as good as advertised.

I saw him play and here is a simple synopsis: good in run support, but lacks great cover ability, not impressed with his football IQ (and the whole Texas D was atrocious) and seemed to disappear in spots when he should have shinned.

I hope he can help and contribute. With all that said and the majority of people not liking this pick, you really think those that don't like the pick are

these jack asses complaining dont know anything about his game
???

Like I said, I respect your opinions and have no issue with you, but there were/ are a lot of intelligent reasoning behind not wanting him at that spot (out of all the safeties, I wanted Ellam FWIW). I just wanted to understand your reasoning.

I've watched a ton of him play as well. And he's pretty much known for his coverage ability as a safety. His only true knock is his inability to be that premier, turnover causing, disruptive safety that you would want in a first round pick. Aka, a player that was not in this draft.

The way the game is played?

Other needs we have?

Vacarro is a matchup dream as a defensive coach. A guy that can play the run, and match up against the slot, and can cover the field. We had the two worst safeties in the NFL last year, and we drafted the best safety in the draft.

Matt Elam is 5'10, and a hot head. The guy caused about as many penalties as he did big plays. He's flashy in college because of his small size, and big hits, but he's going to be a liability in many ways on the pro level. You aren't putting Matt Elam on a Tony Gonzales for instance, lol.

THAT'S who you liked better? Who did you think was there for our pick that made so much more sense?

Reminders, we were last against the rush, and second to last against the pass. We drafted a guy that can play the run, and can cover. I feel like I'm in an alternate universe reading so much of this.(not just you AnotherR, I respect your opinion, just disagree).

Vaccaro played all 4 years of college football with a lot of playing time as a freshman.

Don't act all surprised if people have seen him play and are able to form an opinion on him.
