I have all of my archives broken by client and then personal folders for all of my other random emails.
About once per week I will sort all of my emails by the person who sent them and migrate them into the archive. I will flag and color code any that are still relevant and those stay in my inbox. Slow email day for me is 5 and fast can be a 100.
I've done these for two years and not skipped a beat.

I was the same way before I converted from entourage to outlook 2011 but I sorted by groups rather than individuals.
However I am on a much larger scale... Average emails a day is 200-250 depending on what's going on.
My iMac iPad and iPhone sync with no problems except for some reason IT won't allow notes to sync onto the iMac on the cloud
I can probably count them emails I've missed over the years on one hand
