I spend LOTS of time launching out of saltwater locations and I really hate working on hubs/tires on the side of the road.
I'd say that every two years is about average, repacking every year...hadn't had any issues however.

In Lousiana, change the impeller annually. Mud and sand from marsh and our waters wear the impeller out. Always check the annodes.
