I don't know why we bothered to try and sign anyone from Real. For whatever reason, European players have this hard on for real Madrid and view it as the ultimate place to ply their trade, the peak of the mountaintop, I personally don't understand it

Because Real Madrid is king. They are the Yankees/Lakers/etc. The greats want to don the all white strip.
