Well they are a financially stable club with record profits, a massive stadium, huge support and a fantastic squad and manager. One could easily say they would rather please their fans than cash in for money they don't really need.

Good points - I didn't realize BVB was set up that well. Changes the situation immensely if financial drivers aren't primary consideration.
As a fan, I would be torn...here you have a great talent, but he doesn't want to be a part of your club and wants to move to your counterpart at the top of the league.
