I maxed out the card and Citi shut down the account, luckily. About 2yrs later @ 23 I paid it off while working my first out of school job.

My student loans are paid. Still a decent chunk left on my wife's because she got her Master'$ degree.
Luckily, next year will be her 5th consecutive year teaching at a Title 1 school, after which she will have $5,000 of her loans forgiven, and we'll be pretty close to done paying them off.
