After watching The Wire and The Sopranos on HBOGO the last year I'm lost without a new TV show. I decided to give Oz a shot since it has generally good reviews and I enjoy HBO series.

I'm 2.5 episodes in and it just isn't grabbing me. The concept seems really great but I keep thinking it could be done better. I loved the realism of the Wire and kind of expected it in Oz to an extent. Immediately some of the plot devices just seem so ridiculous and far-fetched. I don't necessarily think it's bad so far but I'm feeling a little underwhelmed.

Should I stick with it/does the series get any better? General consensus seems to be that the first few seasons are good and then it falls off a cliff.

I'd stop where you're at. It REALLY jumps the shark after the first couple of seasons. Beecher killing the Nazi co with his fingernails was the beginning of the end.

I watched the first couple seasons of Oz and thought it was pretty good. But I dropped out of it around season 3. So if you're not liking it now, you probably won't later.

I watched every episode and towards the end I had no idea why I was doing this to myself. It was terrible. Bad acting and bad script...completely unconvincing.

I think its fun to go back and see all the actors that you recognize now as they were earlier in their careers. Like seeing Allstate's Mayhem 100 lbs ago as O'Reilly.

Loved Oz through the first half of the fourth season. It jumps the shark after that in a big way.

I still enjoyed it all the way through. My main issue is the way they wrapped up the storyline that started with Episode 1 and lasted until the series finale.
