WKRP In Cincinnati – Loni Anderson or Jan Smithers? + Wet Video!

Bailey Quarters Gets Dunked!
That short video of Jan Smithers in the dunking booth really shows off her beautiful body on "The Battle of The Network Stars". Isn't that Howard Cossell doing the play-by-play?
Anyway, re-watching this sitcom and really forgotten just how good it actually was, especially Season 1. Hard to believe this show was almost cancelled. That first episode of the format change is classic, along with the Turkey drop episode and the final one of S1 where Venus and Johnny get drunk on the air with the state trooper.
There is a drop off in some of the episodes after the initial season, but it is still much better than the majority of comedy sitcoms out there today.
I’m in Season 3 right now and just watched the Loni Anderson in the bathing suit episode where the photographer takes nudes of her changing and they break into the studio to try and retrieve them. Even after S1, there's a lot of classic episodes and didn’t realize there were 90 of these made in the original series. I notice someone also made a porno about the show.
Where do you rank this comedy series in your all time list of comedy sitcom favorites and what are some of your favorite episodes, quotes …
“Time for more music and Les(s) …. Nessman!”
"Red Wigglers — the Cadillac of worms!”
Oh, and who you got: Jennifer (Loni Anderson) or Bailey (Jan Smithers)?

Both of them at the same time!
I liked Bailey more.
WKRP is my favorite show of all time. There are so many clever things in most of the episodes. CBS fricked the show by moving it around so much.
One of my fav episodes is when the tornado hits Cincinnati. You have Carlson trying to remember Japanese from the war to a group of Japanese businessmen being guided by a Spanish speaker. Carlson tells them to surrender in Japanese. Later when Les is told to go on the air with the emergency plan, the plan only covers a possible Russian attack - not tornadoes. So when Les goes on the air, the Godless tornado is the enemy.

Bailey was really hot. Natural - good looking.
Loni was about as real as Dolly Parton.

This is like the Ginger/Maryann debate. The majority of guys alway seem to pick the natural beauty over the sex symbol.

Bailey FTW. Loni Anderson is too much of a good thing. She looks like a blow up doll.

I have it very high - if you can find it with the original music. The big tragedy of the show and the reason that most people cannot fully enjoy it today is that the music was licensed for a limited time/# of runs or whatever. The current DVD package, at least that I'm aware of, does not have much of the original music and the editing required to fix it has damaged the integrity of these packages.
I want to say Nick at Night ran a syndication package with most, but not all, of the original music intact and I have heard that some bootleg copies of that package (in very poor, sub-VHS quality condition) exist.
In any event, I have it probably in my top 4 or 5 sitcoms of all time - I thought it was exceptionally well done, well acted, well cast, and well written. Overlooked somewhat, because the 70s was fully of wonderful sitcoms.

A little thread hijack - I've become addicted to Battle of the Network Stars on ESPN Classic. Really brings back some memories and I love seeing the 70s/80s actresses in swimsuits.

I was always a fan of the show. Everyone lusted after Loni Anderson, but Jan Smithers was the girl to take home to mother.

Before any all-or-nothing choice I'd first try making Margaritas, finding some quality blow and asking them about their feelings towards each other.
But Bailey if that didn't fly, she seems like more of an overachiever.

Bailey. It was always Bailey.

I go with Josh Brolin's former stepmom over Burt Reynolds' ex-wife.
