Are you just looking for advice on good used brands, or could you find a boat and post it up for critique? I suggest doing the latter and looking on CL, LA sportsman, and THT classifieds. Boat trader aggravates me.
Yeah, I'm not finding boattrader that useful. LA Sportsman has a lot of boats but isn't that easy to search. I can make do, though.
I'm not looking to move on anything in the near future; this will be a multi-month ordeal that could take as long as a year or more. Just looking to get the ball rolling. Would like to have a new boat by next fishing season.
I'm in no rush because I currently have a boat to use, I just want an upgrade because it seems like every time we take it out, something breaks (and I know it's like that with every boat but the last several times I've taken it out, it either broke down completely or would shut down while running). We take care of it, but it's just old and has a lot of bugs in its systems. Being stranded 10+ miles from civilization is not something I want to deal with again!

PANGA! PANGA! PANGA! PANGA!
I love me some Panga.
You can go in 3-4's in the morning and 6" of water in the afternoon. One of the most versatile boats out there.
There are some good used ones down in FL. Craigslist Orlando and Tampa for a few weeks and you will find yourself a good boat for a great price.
