I wouldn't say LSU does more than just provide local context to a story about declining participation by blacks in baseball. I have no problem with the story whatever.

It's hardly a new story, by any stretch. But he covered all the right bases. It starts with 11.7 scholarships. I think that, more than anything, kills it in the black community.

Of course, beyond that, baseball has become very expensive, making it more of an upper-middle class sport, almost like golf or tennis, with all the equipment one needs to purchase and the private lesson and the cost of select ball.
