They are equal for most. There are a few games that rely on the CPU more and the 3570k does outperform. I think if he doesn't want to overclock he should get that 3470 to save more money since it performs well too. 3470 at microcenter was about $30-$40 cheaper I believe.

I dont even know what overclocking is, so doubt I would do it. BTW what is an extreme4?
