Taglibue comes in and immediately drops the penalties because they're guilty of what Goodell said they were guilty of?
That's some nice spin work right there. As I've already said in this thread, Tagliabue's point was that even though Goodell's information was good, there is no way to prove what hits are bounty related hits and what hits or just regular football hits. Football is a violent sport.
I said from the beginning that the player punishments made no sense for this very reason. If the league went down that road, they would have to start investigating every single hit from every single game. It's just not possible. But this is different than saying the players were innocent.

How else can anyone explain "you're guilty and we have the evidence to prove it but we aren't going to punish anyone"?
There is a very logical explanation, which I have spelled out multiple times. You can't prove which hits or from bounty, and which aren't. That was the issue. Doesn't mean the information Goodell had was wrong.

He vacated the punishments because when he was the commish he ok'd pay for performance programs under as long as the players put in their own money and some other stipulations. I can't remember it all, but you can find the old espn story on youtube.
Goodell goofed and Tags knew it. Goodell lucked out when the judge threw out Vilma's suit, but the rift between the NFL and the players is way wider now. They don't trust him because of the way he handled the whole thing
At least this makes sense, unlike what everyone else is saying. And I agree about the way Goodell handled the whole thing. Guy should be fired or just quit. But me saying this won't change the fact that I'm a traitor because I can be objective about all of this.
The truth is, I don't care about any of it. The Saints won the Super Bowl and nothing will change that. They could have been the dirtiest team ever, and I wouldn't care. Most of the best franchises through history or known to have some form of cheating.

They couldn't prove bounties period. Did you notice how they stopped talking about the 10k put on Favre and the money put on the Rogders and Newton? The players admitted to getting money for good play, good legal play (because they'd have to pay money for flags), and everything else fell out of the news like it never happened. By the language was already firmly implanted into the public's minds. Bravo Goodell.

So what you're saying is they were guilty. NFL could not prove that they were guilty so therefore they are guilty. I got it now.

Congrats, you are the third person to say this. Maybe if some of you would learn to read, this wouldn't happen. I already explained all of this multiple times. Football is a violent sport. Even if Goodell had good information about what was going on, considering the violent nature of the sport, it's impossible to prove that a hit is bounty related.
Every coach in the league could admit to having bounty programs, and it would still be impossible to punish players because again, it's impossible to prove in this sport what hit is more than a normal football hit. Every single hit in the league could be from a bounty system, and the coaches would be punished, but you couldn't punish the players.

Cool. I get to be a candidate for some award that means absolutely nothing that says I am the worst poster on this board, or whatever it's for, because I'm not a homer? I'm fine with that. Can you let me nominate myself at least? And by all means Saints fans, keep fighting the good fight that nobody but you all really cares about. It's over. The Saints still have that trophy. Let it go for goodness sake.

They couldn't prove which hits or bounty related. There's a difference.

I usually like Yasinkas, but disagree with everything he's ever written on the Bounty bullshite. Dudes toting the company line so hard

Everyone was thinking it. I just said what was on everyone's mind.

So he is good at his job in your opinion, but the stuff he writes on this particular topic that makes your team look bad is all crap?
Posted on 3/2/13 at 6:10 pm to landrywasbeast30
So just because I think he's good at his job I can't disagree with him on certain topics?

Of course people are thinking it. This is a Saints message board and I'm on the opposite side of a topic that makes Saints fans nuts. I get it. I understand the hate. Don't think this one topic should put me in contention for worst poster though. That hurt my feelings.

Fair point. Just pointing out that it may not be a coincidence that the stuff he writes that makes your specific team look bad is crap in your opinion, but you like him in general.
