I agree with the Guild Wars 2 sentiment regarding the combat. This game is very action-oriented and reflexes/positional awareness are rewarded with higher survivability.

The system of gaining experience is on the other end of the spectrum from Guild Wars, though. You are heavily directed, which is to be expected from a game that has so many different stories to share with you.

Whereas in Guild Wars 2 the lore is emergent from the activity of exploring the landscapes available to you and speaking with otherwise non-essential NPCs, Neverwinter blankets you in lore from the beginning and you need only follow the plot railroad to experience most of what the Forgotten Realms has to offer.

That is my experience so far.

i do find the combat strangely fulfilling and satisfying

the story so far has been mostly "follow this path, go to this place, kill this main bad dude, bring back what he was guarding"

And i'm fine with that. Linear for sure.

Indeed, positional awareness and reflexes are rewarded in that you dont have to pop potions as often, which are somewhat expensive.

So, the better you are, the more money you have. A direct relationship in player skill and wealth, which i can appreciate.
