Went to Vernazza back in June...would highly recommend going, especially since you are going before the height of tourist season.
Thanks to Rick Steves and others, it's become much more popular in the last few years, especially after the mudslide in October 2011. Everything is back to normal, though other minor issues may close some of the walking paths from town to town in the Cinque Terre.
We ate at Ristorante Belforte one night, which overlooks the harbor and was excellent. I forget the name of the other place, but it was great too...
Highly recommend a trip to the Cinque Terre...
